Dr. Charles is board-certified in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and also an expert in electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS). He has earned the title “Diplomate In Clinical Electrodiagnosis” and the credential D-EDX from Hands-on Diagnostics in Astoria, New York. Additionally, he is enrolled in one of two residency programs for EMG/NCV in the country and has extensive clinical experience performing hands-on manual therapy and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound.
What is EMG/NCS Testing?
EMG (Electromyography) and NCS (Nerve Conduction Study) are tests that assess nerve and muscle health. By measuring electrical activity, these tests can help diagnose conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and nerve damage.
EMG measures muscle electrical activity at rest and during contraction. A small needle is inserted into the muscle. NCS measures nerve health by stimulating a nerve and recording its response.
These tests are often performed together to provide a comprehensive evaluation. Results help doctors diagnose and manage conditions affecting nerves and muscles.
